League Of Legends World Championship 2011
The League of Legends World Championship ('LoL Worlds' for short) is the annual professional League of Legends world championship tournament operated by Riot Games. It is the largest tournament in LoL esports and is held at the end of the season in October. Qualifying teams are determined from the LoL Pro League in China, League Championship Korea operated by OnGameNet in Korea, LoL Master Series in Taiwan/Hong Kong/Macau, LoL Championship Series from North America and Europe, and various other regions. These teams compete for the champion title, the 70-pound (32 kg) Summoner's Cup, and a multi-million cash prize. The tournament has been widely praised for its ceremonial performances, while receiving attention worldwide due to its multiple dramatic and emotional matches.
The 2020 World Championship is the crowning event of League of Legends esports for the year. The tournament welcomes 22 teams from all regions of the game in a months-long race for the Summoner’s Cup. This year’s world championship will be held exclusively in Shanghai, China to reduce travel throughout the tournament and control the show environment under the coronavirus pandemic. It began with the World Championship in 2011 and has morphed into an international league with an annual tournament that has as many viewers as playoff football games for the NFL. Teams compete for the champion title, the 70-pound Summoner’s Cup, and a multi-million-dollar championship prize.
